This animation shows off all three of the rigs I made for my Thesis Film; Clam, Pearl, and the Seagull. I made Clam and Pearl be very stretchy and expressive, while the Seagull would remain more grounded while still being stylized.
I made this animation for my Class final about learning Houdini. During this project I understood how to animate a character within Maya, export as an alembic, and then import into Houdini and have it not only keep it's animation but also it's volume and still be able to interact with objects, such as the cloud seen here.
For this assignment we were to craft a walk cycle for a character, and I decided that something more complex such as a dinosaur would pose interesting challenges involving weight distribution and overlapping action.
This Volcano exploding from the ground shot was from my Junior Thesis. While the Volcano was one of my simpler rigs, using it effectively combined with some stylized destruction led to a great result, along with some nice 2D compositing by other members of the project.
